Submission of the assessement

I have received an email from HKU that asked me to submit the assessment of 200515. I thought that the facilitator had all our hyperlinks of blog. Anyway, I submit the link again through ILN today. I hope it will not cause any misunderstanding of late submission.

Renewal of the Storyboards for Learning Object for Handheld Presentation

I have asked my friend to use JAVA to make it real. It is rudementary and seems work. You may download the zip file and try it yourself. After you download the zip file, you have to unzip it . Then copy the BMI folder and runBMI.bat to the desktop. Double click the runBMI.bat and that this is.

Hopping Snoopy

The Hopping Snoopy best represents my feeling of taking this module.I am delighted and happy about this module.


1. During the course I have learnt a lot that I have not learnt before, such as writing storyboards for website and learning object,using Windows Photo Story and Windows Movie maker, uploading document to webspace and then posting it into a blog.
2. Knowing how to use a PDA.
3. Using PDA to perform a lot of Tasks
4. I have also learnt how to upload photo using Picasa.
5. I met some hi-tech classmates and they help me a lot.
6. I learnt how to use Digital Vedeo Camera
7. I tried to use Ulead Studio 9.0. I found Ulead studio 9.0 is much more easy to use. However, I still used window movie player to complete my assessment because I have to finish it at home. The software is installed in the school computer. Anyway , I am glad that I had a try on it.
8. I showed the blog to the students, though it is in English, they still felt interest on the vedeo clip that I posted. Of course, they are excited because they are 'on air'.
9.. I am a bit crazy about using Window Movie Maker. I use the WMM with some of my family photos. Then I posted them on my another blog and ask them to view it. One of my relative said that I am very Pro and even asked me to teach her how to use it.

I hope it does not go astray as it is the first time that I did this. From the article written by Dr. Churchill, there are a lot of classification about what is a learning object.
The one that I did is deal with the BMI. Though it is quite controversial about it . BMI is still one of the simple index for us to explain problem like underweight and overweight. Advice, suggestion and implication for the index is a good guidance too. That's why I choose this as a LO.

I have tried the software-Picasa. It is downloaded from google.I browsed google.com just to see if there is any useful software useful for on teaching and learning. It is a useful software especially if you want to upload picture to blog. It is easy to use and powerful.

Possibilities of using Windows Movie Maker into Education

Windows Movie Maker is a free ware which is easy to use.
Students can learn it to make vedeo clips.
It can also be used as slide show. A bit more easier than Photo Story 3. We can also place transition wordings on plain screen which make the vedeo clips more lively.
We can use it to arrange photos, add title, wordings, transition, sounds, music recording etc. Thus make the photos more memorable.

It is perfect to use if you have enough RAM. Previously, I only have a 256MB RAM and it did not work quite well. So I changed to use a 1GB RAM(Kingston). It was terrific! By the way, 1 GB RAM costs only HK$250 now. Isn't that great?

My library is quite old, it has been seven years old. It is a pity that our library will be closed next year.

Pictures taken from school

I have taken several pictures from my school including classrooms, special room, library ,playground etc. Since my memory stick is only of 128MB and was brought 2 years ago , I cannot store all of the pictures inside. I can only upload them to the yahoo photo and hope I can download them during lesson. I think I have to buy a new memory stick of 2-4 GB .

Storyboard for handheld mobile technologies

The following link is the amended storyboard for handheld mobile technologies. It was refined . The new storyboard is more concise, clear with easy reading wallpaper, only include essential infomation for quick reference, and most of the links to my library website are cut as they are not suitable for small screen. Moreover, more explanation and descriptions are made so that people can understand them more easily.

Advantages and limitations of the Handheld technologies:
Advantages-
1. students can view e-books
2. receive email anywhere
3. use as a game player with installation of the software
4. listen to podcast
5. learning languages with suitable softwares
6. facilitate learning provided there are good learning object using flash
7. use as telephone for communication
8. Taking pictures
9. recording data
10. calculating and analysing data
11. personal planner
12. use as watch
Limitation:
1. expensive.
2. need to install different softwares in order to expanse its use
3. small screen size
4. involve costly wireless expenditure.
5. easily broken
6. comparatively high maintenance cost and repairing and replace cost.
7. not so popular

It was a good experience to learn how to use PDA

Session 2 was great. Our classmates shared their designs in the PDA. I learnt a lot from them. Furthermore, I heard PDA before but never had a chance to use it. It was the first time that I used PDA. Although I was quite clumsy in using it , my classmate helped me a lot. Thanks!
